UAB vs. High Point Tonight - 3 Things We Know

UAB vs. High Point Tonight - 3 Things We Know

The UAB Blazers are 4 games into the 2024-2025 basketball season and face their biggest challenge of the season tonight in High Point, North Carolina.

3 Things We Know:

1. High Point is a Top Mid-Major Team this Season:

The High Point Panthers came up short in the Big South conference tournament last year, losing to Longwood, the team that would go on to represent the Big South conference in March Madness. The Panthers finished their home schedule with an impressive 15-2 home record and an overall record of 27-9.

But enough about last year, let's talk about 2024-25. High Point is predicted to win their conference (Big South) receiving 17 first place votes. The Panthers have multiple players that are capable of scoring double-digit points on any given night. One player to take notice of is Senior Guard, Kezza Giffa from Paris, France. Giffa is averaging 18.7 points through 3 games and dropped 24 points just 3 days ago against a solid N.C. Central team. UAB's work will be cutout for them tonight at Quebin Arena.

2. Yaxel Lendeborg and Christian Coleman are good at basketball:

Through 3 games, Lord Lendeborg and Christian Coleman have shown just how electric this duo can be. Lendeborg is one of three Blazers to score 20 or more points in three straight games to open a season. The other two? Andy Kennedy and Carlos Williams. In the Blazers second game of the season against former rival Southern Miss, the duo combined for 42 points and shot 100% from the free throw line. Be on the lookout for Yax and CC to step up tonight on the road.

3. Historic Game: First Meeting Between These Teams in Program History.

Tonight at 6:00 PM CT at the Qubein Center, UAB and High Point will face each other for the first time in program history. Vegas has Andy Kennedy and the Blazers as a 3.5 point underdog. This marks the first road trip for UAB in the 2024-2025 campaign.
