1. It’s Fun Basketball
Samford has not lost a game at home since February 25, 2023. The Bulldogs are looking to extend their winning streak at the Pete Hanna Center to 29 games with a win tonight over ETSU. Samford is currently tied with UConn for the second longest home winning streak in the country. You are going to want to check out what is happening in Homewood.
Bucky McMillan has turned Samford basketball around, taking the Bulldogs to their first March Madness appearance since 2000. We don't like to talk about the result of that March Madness game and the ghost foul call on a clean block but it happened and we have to accept it. Dubbed “Bucky Ball”, the aggressive defense and fast pace offense is nationally ranked. Take a look at these numbers.
2. Samford Basketball is Convenient and Affordable
The Pete Hanna Center in Homewood is easy to get to and parking on campus is free. Samford has a beautiful campus so the short walk to the arena is not a big deal. Tickets are $25 at the door but you can use code STREAK for $15 tickets when you buy online at samfordtickets.com. Go ahead and secure your tickets as it takes a little time to set up an account. Not as easy as it can be, but it beats waiting in line.
3. Samford Made it to March Madness Last Year and There’s a Good Chance They Return.
Samford is the favorite to represent the SoCon in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament but it won't be easy; it will take winning the SoCon tournament in March.
This team has some DOGS and this preview doesn't even scratch the surface. 6th year senior veteran, Rylan Jones, can see plays before they develop and ranks #17 in the country in assists. Trey Fort, the transfer from Mississippi State, rotates with Brownell on leading the team in points. Fort, averages 14.8 points a game and has been the most consistent 3-point shooter for the Bulldogs this season. Jaden Brownell remains one of the most underrated players in D1 basketball. The 6’9 junior transfer from Sandy, Utah is averaging 14.6 points per game while shooting 58.1% from the field. Bucky McMillan has assembled a fun team that wins. You’ve got to check these guys out.
